fistral 15/06/09
Posted on June 15th, 2009 2 comments
3-4ft clean and sunny, quite a few in at South at 8am, middle peak working nicely, no wind, water’s warm now, loads of sets pouring in.Busy day in the office then we’ll all be on it!
Congrats to Stokesy, Skindog and Jo Dennison on their Night Surf wins down at Fistral this weekend. Bands, beers, the new bar, fireworks, drunk kids on the beach – all good fun.
A few Masked Ball tickets left but nigh on sold out now so if you’re in need, ring asap 07731307265.

Fistral, Chopes and Leven
Posted on June 10th, 2009 No comments
Wave of the day! There were a couple of people on longer boards at North Fistral. Sun keeps trying to come out so it’s worth a paddle if only for fitness.Rumours going around of Tom Lowe and Laird Hamilton (SUPping!) getting accidentaly tangled up at Chopes are true…Tom’s arm dislocated again, get well soon! Pics and full story in the next issue of CARVE (we trashed our deadline to get em in!).
Porthleven was working for a short and sweet while yesterday; Tony Plant was shooting and Matt Capel, Russell Mullins, Skindog and others were on it early. Don’t forget your Masked Ball tickets (kat@orcasurf.co.uk) – the Levy lineup will be empty on the morning of the 21st for sure!

Fistral views
Posted on May 29th, 2009 No commentsIt looks so nice I didn’t know which picture to put up, so you get all of ‘em. Really nice waves! But Rob says it’s dropping off fast – get in as the weekend might not be all it’s being cracked up to be. Still, enjoy the sunshine!

surf check
Posted on May 28th, 2009 No commentsLooks like yesterday…tide too high at the moment but from the cams, buoys and judging by yesterday, there’ll be a wave later in Newquay Bay, about 2ft at the Towan end I’d guess. Looking nice for this weekend – offshore, a bit of sun and some shoulder-high waves. Seek shelter from the crowds!

Oz is going off too!
Posted on April 24th, 2009 No commentsMick Fanning soundbites and some sick shots of the recent stonking swells in Oz on WPS. The next issue of CARVE (going to the printer’s today!) features some sick actions from Aussies and travelling Brits like Billy Norways, Sam Lamiroy and Matt Capel. It. Went. Off.
PS It’s 3ft and clean around Newquay today, so get out there if you possibly can. The early at Fistral was super-fun – sorry about the lack of pics coming through on TwitPic (see right), we’re too busy getting in there!

Surf today…windy!
Posted on March 25th, 2009 No commentsHope you got a bbq in at the weekend ‘cos it’s gone proper spring again i.e. cold and windy…
No long-range groundswell on the way and Fistral looks awful, but the Bay actually isn’t that bad if you really want to get in. A few peelers coming in and this longboarder was loving it. Also saw the shorboarder force his board into a fairly long right and the beginner wobble all the way to shore… If you can get wet (with our deadlines? Ha!), it’s kind of worth it.

Fistraly goodness
Posted on February 12th, 2009 No commentsFinally some sweet lil waves. Top is one of the four out at North Fistral at 8.30, bottom is the biggest wave I saw coming through. And it’s sunny and light offshore. Get in there! Surf surf surf.

smallness
Posted on February 11th, 2009 No commentsTowan beach: small and not clean…bigger and still not clean at Fistral. I guess you could surf it if you wanted!
